Odyssey of the Mind: Sign up by Oct 31

Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving competition - teams of up to 7 kids apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics.   This is a fun extracurricular activity that's always popular at Clermont.  To learn more about the Odyssey organization: https://www.novasouth.org/wp/?page_id=2456

Our creativity will be on overdrive this year as our teams figure out how to meet in a socially-distanced and/or online and safe way.

How will it work?
- This year, regional competition day itself will be virtual: kids submit videos of their solutions/performances and answers to questions, and virtual spontaneous.  All team members will participate in spontaneous this year.
- Odyssey cannot happen without adult volunteers.  We'll need coaches (usually parents), judges, and other volunteers.
- Curious about what a virtual competition could look like?  Check it out!  https://www.odysseyofthemind.com/how-to-perform-virtually/

Info session:
- Info session for Clermont Odyssey for parents and students on Wednesday, October 21 at 7:30PM.  Register in advance here to receive the meeting link: https://aaas.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJEoc-iqpz4vH9MbWIML4b4tN3eZrhb-5Tmn

- Sign up for Odyssey:

- PTA funding: The PTA will fund some of the program and students would pay a small fee to participate.  This fee would be collected after teams are formed.

We look forward to an amazing Odyssey season with you!  Please feel to contact Clermont Odyssey coordinators Kathy and Adam Black at odysseyofthemind@clermontpta.org

Join the PTA Today!

9/7/2020 7:36 am

Perhaps this year's best reason to join the Clermont PTA is to improve your family's connections to others through access to our online Clermont Directory.  Only current PTA members have access to Clermont's PTA family contact information: the kids in your child's virtual class, the parents you want to get to know.

Other reasons to join include supporting the school--all students!--with community activities like Virtual Bingo, enrichment programs like a possible coding class or Arts-in-the-Park, teacher recognition awards, and filling funding gaps like providing new picnic tables or art supplies.

As Clermont adjusts through these unique times, PTA members (you!) decide how we should spend our funds to best help all Clermont students and staff.  Consider joining for $10; make your donation to support the volunteers (and be one of them!) helping make Clermont "virtually unstoppable" this year!
