Clermont's Odyssey of the Mind Teams Shine!

3/16/2025 2:29 pm

A huge round of applause for our six incredible Clermont Odyssey of the Mind teams! We are bursting with pride at their fantastic achievements.

  • First Place: Cooking with Books - Division II (Coaches Jennifer & Amanda)
  • Second Place: Mech-Animal Sidekick - Division I (Coach Curtis) and AstronOMical Odyssey! - Division II (Coach Tiffany)
  • Third Place: Cooking with Books - Division I (Coaches Jennifer & Rosario)

And a special High Five to the C-Bugs team, who have been working together since 1st grade, for advancing to the State Championship on Saturday, April 26th! We're cheering you on!

The Clermont primary teams were also outstanding! They received glowing feedback from head judges, who consistently praised Clermont students for their exceptional creativity and humor.

It's truly remarkable that all four of our Division I and II teams placed in the top three. WOW!

Odyssey of the Mind is more than just a competition; it's an opportunity for students to:

  • Foster creativity and problem-solving skills.
  • Develop teamwork and critical thinking.
  • Learn valuable life skills like time management and public speaking.
  • Build innovation and resilience.
  • Most importantly, have a TON of fun!

We are incredibly proud of all our students and coaches for their hard work and dedication. Congratulations!

Auction 2025 is OPEN

3/6/2025 6:40 pm

The Clermont PTA Silent Auction is open online now! This will give parents an opportunity to bid/purchase items before the event and allow for parents to participate in the Silent Auction if they are unable to attend the evening event. The auction will close at 9pm on Saturday during the Clermont PTA Silent Auction Gala.

Wonderful Items to Bid on:

  • Teacher Experiences: We have so many Teacher Experiences available this year and many let students bring a guest! This gives more students the opportunity for a special experience with a teacher and we greatly appreciate the teachers donating these experiences!
  • Classes & Camps: There are many Classes & Camps available to take during the day and some for overnight stay! Classes include art activities, and fitness & dance sessions.
  • Event Passes: Multiple museum, recreation center and science lab passes are available!
  • Event Tickets: Sports, Theatre, Music and interactive Event Tickets are available including 10 seats to a show at Bobby McKeys, 2 season tickets for the Alexandria Aces, 4 tickets to the Washington Wizards and 2 tickets to a Washington Nationals game!
  • Excursions & Travel: Local and short distance Exclusions & Travel are available and a great deal! Included are winery visits & tours, 2 admission passes to Luray Caverns and overnight stays at the Alexandrian, Hotel Indigo and The Ritz Carlton Pentagon City!
  • Food & Dining: We have dine in and dine out food items in the auction including to Alamo Draft House, Bear Chase Brewery, Crumbl Cookie and a $200 gift card to Wegmans!
  • Parent Social: Parent Socials are very popular and usually sell out. This year, they are so good, we are sure they will! Grab these fast!
  • Services: The auction is a great place to obtain some services to use for yourself or others including multiple lawn services, car washes, and a DJ service.
  • Treat Yo Self: This category is all about making yourself feel good and includes a Japanese helmet, décor, a Washington Nationals bat signed by Keibert Ruizand, a brand new Xerox multifunction printer, many self-care items & sessions!

Register to Bid

How to Bid

  • Open the Silent Auction Website from your phone or computer. Click the "Auction Catalog" tab from menu. There you'll find the complete auction inventory and will be able to bid from 10:00 am on Monday until 9:00 pm on Saturday (March 8th).
  • On Monday (March 3rd), you will get an email with a direct access link and your personal bidder access code. These will allow you to log in automatically and get right to bidding. You must be logged in to bid.
  • Ensure your credit card is registered.  You can't bid without one associated with your account. This is how the auction will be closed out. Items won will be charged to your registered credit card.  If you purchased your ticket already then you're probably set!
  • You and your spouse may bid from the same account to avoid bidding against each other. We recommend this unless you really want the satisfaction of being the one who won that Teacher Experience for your kid. Volunteers can show you the easy way to set this up if you are using the Auctria App at the event on Saturday.
  • Pay attention to the ways to bid on each item.
    • Single winner - these items allow you to place the maximum you want to pay and then the system will keep you in the lead until someone bids higher than your max. These items will also offer a buy-it-now in case you want to end the competition and secure the item just for you.
    • Multiple winners - we have many items this year that allow several people to win. If bid and get in a winning spot you will need to place a new bid if you get knocked out. These items do not have the maximum bid feature.
  • Buy-it-now - some of the socials have a limited number of seats, use buy-it-now to pay the flat price and sign-up for a seat. There is no bidding on these so you cannot be outbid.
  • Keep checking your email or the Silent Auction Website to see if you have been outbid.
  • Set Your Maximum Bid: Would you like to bid and have future bids for the same item automatic if outbid by someone else? Maximum Bidding provides a mechanism to keep the actual bid as low as possible yet provide a path to remain the winning bidder (on single winner items). With maximum bidding, you become the winner if you are the highest bidder at the auction's close. As the winner, with maximum bidding, you will only pay the lowest possible winning bid, which may not be the maximum bid you placed for the item.
  • Keep checking your email and text messages or the Silent Auction Website to see if you have been outbid.
  • Bring your phone to the Saturday Silent Auction Gala. Bidding is done online via the mobile friendly website or Auctria mobile app (for Android or iOS). Download the app now so you can focus on bidding and not technology on Saturday night. Make sure your phone is charged and bring a battery brick portable charger as there are not a lot of power outlets at ALX.
  • If you need any assistance, such as change the credit card on file or getting a new bidder access code email, please visit the volunteers at the registration desk at the event on Saturday night.

We encourage you to PERUSE THE CATALOG NOW and PLAN YOUR BIDDING STRATEGY! There are lots of items and some big ticket items you may want to split with friends/families! (just make sure to work this out with them, there is no team bidding in the app)
